Joyful Learning at Cottonwood Elementary

Joyful learning has been a constant theme since the beginning of the school year for our Kindergarten students at Cottonwood Elementary. Kindergarten teachers Abbie Ferguson, Alyssa Wilkerson, and Mike Marshall have focused on foundational skills with fun and engaging ways to learn letters and sounds. Students have loved how fun it is to learn their ABC’s.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, Kindergarten students learned about the history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Teachers designed a hands-on, engaging lesson where each student designed and made their very own “Balloon Float.” Our Kindergarten students paraded the halls of Cottonwood with family members taking photos!

During the Holiday Season, the magic of learning continued with the story of “The Polar Express” and with a very chilly package arriving for every Kindergarten classroom. In each package was a bell for each Kindergarten student. Joy and wonder filled the classrooms as students heard the bells ringing. Thank you to Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Wilkerson and Mr. Marshall for nurturing joyful learning at Cottonwood Elementary!
